Matthew 5:7 Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
“Oh boy! Are they ever gonna get it when I get home!” Or “I can’t wait to give them a piece of my mind!” Ever said that or maybe thought it? I’m big time guilty. Check. Consider;
Mercy: compassionate or kindly forbearance shown toward an offender, an enemy, or other person in one’s power; compassion, pity, or benevolence.
Mercy implies compassion that forbears punishing even when justice demands it.
Do I want mercy when I’ve offended my fellow man? Do I show mercy even when my children or those closest to me offend me? Think of the mercy God has given us so freely, with love, a mercy so undeserved. The fact that we live and breathe every moment is mercy from heaven. Nehemiah 9:31 Nevertheless for thy great mercies’ sake thou didst not utterly consume them, nor forsake them; for thou art a gracious and merciful God.
