Rejoice in the Lord, O ye righteous: for praise is comely for the upright.
Praise is easy to do when things are going smoothly and life seems like it’s going in the right direction. It seems natural to be thankful and shout a praise to God when the sun is shining all around. God loves to hear us praise!
He loves it even more if we can praise Him in the dark. Giving praise brings power. Power to overcome. Your praise beckons God’s ears! He’s always listening, but praise, gets His attention. This is what we desire, God’s attention, when we are feeling discouraged.
So whatever your difficulty, however hopeless you may feel, train your mind to praise – whether you feel like it or not. If all you can do is muster a whisper of praise, still praise Him. In times of fear, praise God; in times of great loss and despair, praise God; in times when you want to just run away from faith, praise God. Just keep praising Him, regardless of your circumstances.
Psalm 145:1-4 KJV
[1] I will extol thee, my God, O king; and I will bless thy name for ever and ever. [2] Every day will I bless thee; and I will praise thy name for ever and ever. [3] Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable. [4] One generation shall praise thy works to another, and shall declare thy mighty acts.
