The Water Hole (Grand Canyon #4)

“Ho! Everyone that thirsteth, come ye to the waters…” Isa. 55:1

While hiking down the Grand Canyon, we had packed our own provision of water on our backs. Enough to get us to the bottom of the canyon. Once we were at the bottom there was only 1 water spiket from which to receive good, clean drinking water. Our cabin was within view of this watering hole. It was constantly busy with all sorts of people refilling their tanks. It was like a gathering place, there on the ranch. People from all the cabins would restock, get refreshed and many conversations were ignited around that water pump. Not only did it provide water for the ranch, it replenished those that were passing through and needed a refill to get back to the top. I remember multiple times when us sisters would stand around the spiket and talk and invite others to join in our conversations. We would ask different hikers questions, and offer encouragment to those who were passing through.

This watering hole is like our churches. A place where saints gather. A place to get refilled. A place to encourage one another. A place to invite others to. People of all ages, nationalities and different walks of life needed that water to get back up to the top of that canyon. So it is today. People need the living water. Many are spiritually thirsty and need to be refreshed with the true Word of God. They need encouragement to finish their journey. While we fill our own spiritual jugs each Sunday, let us not forget to invite those around us to “come ye to the waters” where your soul can be truly satisfied with the living water.

“When the poor and needy seek water, and there is none, and their tongue faileth for thirst, I the Lord will hear them, I the God of Isreal will not forsake them.” Isa 41:17

“But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst, but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.” John 4:14
