Don’t forget to look up!

The trail down the canyon, in my humble opinion, most of the time was pretty treacheous. I mean you had to watch every step your foot took or you would stumble on a rock or end up in a mud puddle, or heaven help us, go off the edge! It was so tiring for me to have to keep looking at my feet. My mind got weary from constantly having my head down…step to the right, watch that rock, don’t step in that hole! Keep stepping, keep watching, over and over! As long as I was moving I had to keep looking at my feet. This was another reason why I liked my breif moments of rest – it gave my eyes something else to look at besides my feet… and the views were spectacular! I found myself aggravated that I had to watch so closely as I wanted to see all around me. But I didn’t dare take a chance of falling. And so I rested and looked up. Oh how refreshing! Isn’t that how it is in life sometimes? You just get all bogged down in the daily grind. Yes, we have to watch our spiritual steps – and carefully – but oh I love it when I can look up, see the beauty of Christ, see what He has designed for me, take in the awesomeness of His power, see from whence I came and gather strength in the simple act of lifting my eyes unto the hills from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth. He will not suffer thy foot to be moved… Psalms 121:1-3
