On October 22-24 of 2015, I had the privilege to hike down the magnificent Grand Canyon, stay 2 nites at the bottom and hike back out. It was such an awesome experience and I gathered much physically and spiritually from my hike, that it is worthy of writing down to share with others. I found that there were so many spiritual parallels of my physical journey that I want to highlight what I learned.
So I have decided to break this up into small parts, and make it like a daily devotional, covering a point each post, of what I learned.
The First View
The first view of the canyon is literally awe inspiring! It almost takes your breath away. I’m not kidding. You want to say, “Is this really real?” But there you are, standing on the brink, breathing in the magnificence of the scene before you. There is no way someone can describe it properly with words. You just have to experience it, to know how great it is. Just like our God. You must experience Him to know how great and powerful He really is! Oh the wonders of what He created for you to enjoy and behold! Imagine what God can do in your life! I stood there taking it all in, and I began to feel so very small. The canyon looked so very vast – Like there’s no way little ole me could attempt to go down into the depths of such beauty and be surrounded by such awesomeness. That’s how we should feel towards God. He covers us with His glory and wraps us up in His mighty works, that we should feel small. Very small. As nothing . In contrast to whom He is and what He is able to create or perform, we are the tiniest spec in His hand. We should feel humbled to be just an itty-bitty fleck of His majesty!
