Summer memories

I remember the days of old; I meditate on all they works; I muse on the work of thy hands. Psalms 143:5

Summer is in full swing, here is the state of Florida. Hot, muggy and rainy. When my kids were younger, we took advantage of a free schedule and made our way to the sandy beaches of Longboat Key, as often as we could. It still remains one of my favorite places to go to today, especially during summer. It seems the beach holds my memories and calls me to come soak myself in reminiscing rays as well as the sun. Memories. It is good to remember. Yes, sometimes it brings sadness, when we know those beach days with little ones will never come again, but it is good to remember all the good times. God wants us to keep moving forward and look back at the things He’s brought us through as a rememberance of what He has done. When my girls became teenagers and we’d sneak away to the beach, I was always begging them for pictures and our conversations went something like this.

“Come on girls, Lets take a picture of all of us together!”

“No…..not now….my hair is a mess.”

“Oh come on, you look beautiful!”

“Mom….really…..look at me?”

“But, we may never have this opportunity again!” I’d moan.

I must have said that 100 times……to them it seemed like anyway. But guess what? One time it really was the last time. And now it is a memory to treasure. A memory to dream about with my toes in the sand.

“Bless the Lord, oh my soul, and FORGET NOT his benefits.” Psalms 103:2
